Inspired by the movie (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), we’re sending one Valletta backpack to a gal in a new city each month. This special bag—like the famed pair of jeans—magically suits each woman it finds, no matter where they live or what they do. We’ll follow their journey and see what luck the bag brings them. 

First up is Kim Kimberlin, the newly married and the incredibly talented photographer whose work includes clients from Airbnb to UNICEF. As a woman always on the go, we caught up with her experience in Seattle. 

With an impressive 86K instagram following, what’s it like being a freelance photographer?

I feel very blessed to do what I do! Not only does it make me happy, but it allows me to express myself creatively as well as make my own schedule. 

As I get older, my time becomes more and more valuable to me. I love that photography allows me create and constantly experiment, but also allows me to travel, or take a day off in the middle of the week to cook or read a book. 

I’ve been shooting since 2008, which seems like such a long time, but I’m still not quite where I want to be. I still feel like I’m developing my style and trying to challenge myself. That’s what’s great about photography too. It’s a constant challenge and there is always room to grow and stretch yourself! 

**Thanks for trying out our P.MAI bag. What did you think of the Valletta backpack? **What I loved about this bag the most was how easy it made bringing my camera with me. I cannot stand extra weight in my purse, and most backpacks are too casual looking for my taste, and so I end up not bringing my camera with me (and always regretting not being able to take certain shots). 

This bag is so adorably stylish and lightweight, it made bringing my camera easy! On top of that, it has a separate little pouch that I was able to put my cosmetics in and so I didn’t have to worry about something leaking onto my camera. It had room for my laptop too, which was perfect for coffee shop days and hours of editing.  

It’s also beautiful and spacious! It’s so classy that on some days I preferred taking it over my purse. I also love that the bag maintains its structure. You can throw it in the backseat of your car and it isn’t going to crumple over. It keeps its upright shape making it easy to grab again. 

You’re always moving. Was it easy to transition between different locations?

It’s very well suited for anyone with a very busy lifestyle. I took mine to a coffee shop (casual), but then later that day I had to go to a play and the dress code was pretty fancy. I loved that I was able to walk right in with my backpack and not feel underdressed or anything. Afterwards I went and hiked along the ocean and then went for dinner. The backpack was great in all settings and allowed me to go from one event to the next.
